Pentagon Goes LED

According to CNet News, LED manufacturer Cree has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Department of Defense to supply over 4,200 recessed LED lights for the Pentagon. Wow, even the Pentagon is going green!

It is expected that when the lighting upgrade to Wedge 5 is complete, it will save the Pentagon up to 22% on power consumption as compared to traditional lighting. This kind of saving means the LED fixtures will pay for themselves in just 4 years.

Plus, it will save 140 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year, as well.
