Save One Tree

In my gmail trash folder today the web clip was:

Recycling a 3-foot-high stack of newspapers can save one whole tree.

If that is true, wow! Start recycling or reading online!

All the clips in the trash bin are recyling related. The ones in the spam folder are spam recipes!

  • One of my pet peeves is that we daily receive a "community newspaper" that we did not request--and I think is delivered automatically to everyone in the neighborhood.

At least I end up shredded it for more worm compost bedding. But it is very irritating to have this waste thrust upon me and no way to end it.

  • You should be able to contact the newspaper and request you be taken off their delivery list. This would save paper and their money!

But, I did have a similar experience with a local (tabloid) paper, i.e., The Sun, where they kept delivery a free copy every Sunday. So, every Sunday it went directly to the recycle bin.

When I tried to cancel (this not-asked for "service") they explained to me that they were providing me with a free service for my benefit so why would I want to cancel?

It actually took three calls before the papers stopped showing up. I wonder if they add these free copies to their subscriber numbers?
